I found this bird skull. I think its a hawk. I orginally thought of painting it on a pale background with some delicate shells & dainty flowers. In my mind I pictured it done in watercolors. I felt that they would emphasize the fragility of the skull & life its self. Water colors lend a light & airy feel. But thats not me! I made a bold statement by placing it on a black background, using the contrast of hard brightly colored marbles, & painting in oils instead. Oils lend weight & strength. Now the skull does not look fragile, but represents the fierce stength of the preditor it came from.
